Ariel Dorfman’s psychological thriller Death and the Maiden will be presented on the Main Stage from January 27th through February 13th, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Set in the early 1990's, a man has recently been appointed a Minister of Justice and his committee is charged with investigating human rights atrocities committed by the previous regime. His wife was a victim of those atrocities 15 years earlier. An unexpected visitor, a doctor, may or may not be one of her tormentors.

Although the actual country is not named, Mr. Dorfman, a native of Chile, wrote this play soon after the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet was deposed from power. Mr. Dorfman has not denied the historical connection.

Some of the language is raw and graphic, but nothing very different than testimony presented in recent high profile court cases and on the national news.

We hope to see you at this thought-provoking play that explores themes of remembering, believing, forgiving, justice, and revenge.

Written by Ariel Dorfman, presented by Robert Bock. Starring Sara Sneed as Paulina Salas, Steve Ross as Gerardo Escobar, and Joe O’Connor as Roberto Miranda.

Proof of vaccination or negative Covid test results are required to attend. Patrons are required to be masked at all times.
