110 Stories to be performed as fundraiser to commemorate 9-11

Cape Cod – 21 August 2018 – The WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company and Cotuit Center for the Arts are proud to announce the upcoming staged reading of Sarah Tuft’s moving play, 110 Stories, on September 10^th, 2018, at 7:30pm in the Art Barn at Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road, Cotuit, MA. The reading is a commemoration of the events of September 11, 2001, and a portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to The Foundation for First Responders and Firefighters, a special project of the MA-based not-for-profit Firefighters Support Foundation. The Foundation for First Responders and Firefighters providers free training programs and equipment grants for first responder organizations such as police and fire departments.

From the first crash at the Towers to a last goodbye at Ground Zero, 110 Stories takes us through 9/11 as told by those who were there. Based on interviews, this docu-play weaves together stories not shown on the news, from people we can relate to...a mother, a photojournalist, an ironworker, a chiropractor, and a homeless man who saved lives that day. Their unflinching, freaked-out and occasionally funny accounts take us back to when 9/11 was unimaginable, capturing the shock and horror of the day as well as the resilience of New York City in its aftermath. Remaining apolitical, 110 Stories memorializes September 11th by humanizing history to reveal our innate compassion.

110 Stories is produced by Cotuit Center for the Arts and the WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company and is presented by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Foundation for First Responders and Firefighters.

“This is an incredibly powerful collection of stories from people who witnessed one of the most terrifying events in recent memory. We are beyond proud to be able to present it, especially combined with the opportunity to support a charity that’s doing important work for those who work to help keep us safe,” said Jess Wilson, Managing and Artistic Director for WatermelonAlligator. “First responders – a blanket term often used to describe police, fire, and EMS – put their lives on the line every day as part of their jobs. Many of the performers are part of first responder families, or are (or have been) first responders themselves. It’s a deeply personal piece for many of us.”

This moving and memorable evening of theater will be performed at Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road, Cotuit, for one night only – September 10 at 7:00pm! Doors at 7pm, admission is $20 general admission.
