The works of these artists will be on display:
Percy Fortini-Wright: Street Art
The title of this exhibition is somewhat of a paradox. This body of work is realistically spray-painted street scenes on canvas, the art being the street itself. Thus the title “Street Art.” Fortini-Wright is particularly drawn to night scenes with their distinct lights, wet streets, and cars dashing by that many can relate to. Fortini-Wright, a night owl who loves to drive, finds these scenes not only familiar but also a time of reflection. His aim is to put you, the viewer, in the driver seat as an observer.
Joe Fusaro: Bite Your Tongue
In this exhibit, Joe Fusaro presents collage and mixed-media works that utilize human gestures and original photographs to place viewers in the midst of something recognizable and simultaneously fleeting. Fusaro tears and cuts into his photographs and handmade paper in order to present images we feel we recognize but can't quite place... all the while biting our tongues to find the right words or simply keeping the memory to ourselves.
Erik Durant: Myths and Narratives
Durant’s personal work is a quest to understand the human condition. As a sculptor his main interests lie in gesture, movement, and pose. His works are at times Illustrative, but always realist, exploring historical, and contemporary narratives—both known, and unknown. While many of the characters that he chooses to sculpt seem to be rooted in the past, they are his own imaginings of things not fully understood. Issues surrounding beauty, the body, and identity, give rise to a version of contemporary mythology that is new, yet seemingly familiar.
