Press Release: Scripted Sundays at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Cotuit Center for the Arts is pleased to announce changes with their monthly playreading series Second Wednesday Theater. Beginning January 1, 2020, the series moves to Sundays and will be renamed as Scripted Sundays. Scripted Sundays will remain a monthly play-reading series of rarely performed classics, undiscovered gems, and exciting new works. Admission remains free, and wine is available.

This year’s theme for Scripted Sundays is 2020: A Year of Vision – Views of our Past, Present, and Future. Submissions that incorporate diverse points of view or marginalized voices are highly encouraged.

Curating the new series will be Garrett Olson and Jess Wilson of WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company. Olson and Wilson will serve as artistic leaders for the series and they encourage anyone interested in participating to submit a proposal for consideration.

Garrett Olson is an actor, director, screenwriter, musician and songwriter, currently working regularly in theatre, music videos, voiceovers, television commercials, and independent films. He is an accomplished fight director and combatant/instructor for stage and screen work, and is also an accomplished teaching artist, teaching a variety of performance skills for kids and adults. Garrett has worked behind the scenes as well, involved with everything from set builds to sound and lighting design in local theaters and larger venues like Fenway Park and Bank of America Pavilion. He is Associate Artistic Director and Technical Director for WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company.

Jess Wilson is an executive consultant and leadership coach with 20 years of experience in the healthcare and nonprofit spaces, and more than 25 years of experience as an actor, tech, designer, producer, playwright, and director. A teaching artist, she teaches classes on writing, public speaking, leadership skills and various theatre disciplines for kids and adults. Jess is the Artistic and Managing Director of WatermelonAlligator Theatre Company and is also an accomplished artist, musician, and author.
