Press Release: Sons of Serendip Christmas Show at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Sons Of Serendip2

Cotuit Center for the Arts presents the Sons of Serendip Christmas Show on Friday, December 21, at 7:30 PM. Joining the Sons of Serendip for several tunes will be the 15-member Barnstable High School Chamber Choir, under the direction of Marcia Wytrwal.

Sons of Serendip (SOS) is a quartet of four friends who, through a series of serendipitous events, came together in graduate school at Boston University and rocketed to popularity after a 4th place finish on NBC’s America’s Got Talent (season 9). They have a unique and heartfelt sound that blends R&B, soul, and classical music, offering fresh interpretations of popular music.

AGT judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern called Sons of Serendip the most musically talented act on the show, and Chicago Concert Reviews wrote that “their ingenious arrangements make pretty much anything they touch sound like an original.” Their first appearance at Cotuit Center for the Arts, this past August, sold out quickly, so those interested are advised to purchase tickets as soon as possible.

Since Sons of Serendip’s appearance on America’s Got Talent, lead singer Micah Christian, pianist and guitarist Cordaro Rodriguez, cellist and vocalist Kendall Ramseur, and harpist Mason Morton have been touring nationally, performing at Boston’s Symphony Hall, The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Atlanta Symphony Hall, and many other venues. They were featured guests at several charitable events, including Hank Aaron's Chasing the Dream Foundation, Inc., the Ron Burton Humanitarian Award Dinner, and One Family's 15th anniversary gala, where they opened for John Legend.

Sons of Serendip performed with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops for the 2015 Fourth of July Extravaganza. In 2016, the quartet performed for the “In Memoriam” segment for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards (FXX) and were featured artists for the Nantucket Project’s annual conference. In addition, SOS has performed the national anthem at the New York Knicks home opener for the organization’s 75th anniversary.

Sons of Serendip’s most notable performances include collaborations with the Boston Pops, the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. They often perform orchestrations written, arranged, and notated by Rodriguez and Ramseur.

Sons of Serendip have released three successful albums, “Sons of Serendip,” “Life + Love,” and “Christmas Beyond the Lights.” The New York Times described their Christmas album as “alive with detail but silky beyond reason.”

Most recently, the Sons of Serendip were selected to return to the America’s Got Talent stage and compete in the first-ever America’s Got Talent: The Champions, which will premiere in January on NBC. The quartet will compete alongside 50 of the winners and finalists from America’s Got Talent and Got Talents worldwide.

The members of Sons of Serendip hope their music will resonate deeply with listeners and make their lives a little better, even if just for a moment, and will inspire others to use their gifts to spread love and build a better world.
