Press Release: Woods Hole Film Festival - Best of the Fest at Cotuit Center for the Arts
Jan. 8, 2019 / Press ReleaseCotuit Center for the Arts presents “The Best of the Woods Hole Film Festival” at 7:30 PM on Friday. February 15, and Friday, February 22, in the main performance space. Both films were shown at the 2018 Woods Hole Film Festival.
“Lost in Paris” (France, 2017, 83 minutes), a narrative feature comedy by Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon, who also star in the film, will be screened on February 15.
When Fiona’s orderly life is disrupted by a letter of distress from her 93-year-old Aunt Martha (portrayed by Academy Award-nominee Emmanuelle Riva) who is living in Paris, she hops on the first plane she can and arrives only to discover that Martha has disappeared. In an avalanche of spectacular disasters, she encounters Dom, the affable, but annoying tramp who just won’t leave her alone.
Replete with amazing antics and intricately choreographed slapstick, “Lost in Paris” is a wondrously fun and hectic tale of peculiar people finding love while lost in the City of Lights.
“In Reality” (2018, 88 minutes), a narrative feature comedy by Ann Lupo received the Woods Hole Film Festival audience award for Best Narrative feature. It will be screened on February 22.
Ann, a young woman brimming with optimism and fairytale ideals of romance, dreams about finding "true love." Just when she thinks she's found it, she discovers her feelings are not returned, and the disappointment throws her into a downward spiral of romantic obsession, causing her to lose sight of what is real and what is her imagination.
In order to reclaim her bearings on reality, she decides to make a film about her experience. The result is a vulnerable, hilarious, and vibrantly stylized investigation of modern love. “In Reality” is a rollercoaster ride through the fantastical mind of a young woman in love.
