A special evening with Amy Brenneman. Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 7 pm.
The evening will feature a special screening of the filmed production of last year’s sold-out run of "Overcome," followed by a talkback session with actress and writer Amy Brenneman and our Executive Director, David Kuehn. This event benefits our Cape Cod CAN program, supporting local artists of all abilities.
"Overcome" is a deeply personal and innovative theatrical piece co-created by Amy Brenneman and director/choreographer Sabrina Peck. The play explores Brenneman's journey as a mother learning to support her daughter, Charlotte, who was born with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome—a rare chromosomal condition affecting approximately 2 to 10 of every 1 million live births. Through a blend of music, dance, video elements, and audience interaction, "Overcome" offers a profound reflection on the challenges and revelations of parenting a neurodivergent child.
This performance is particularly meaningful, as it was developed in part at the Yard in Chilmark and previously staged at our venue in March 2024. Brenneman's connection to the area is deepened by her daughter's residence in Hyannis and her education at the Riverview School in Sandwich, which serves neurodivergent students.
Tickets are available on a pick-your-own-price basis, with a suggested donation of $30. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to reserve your spot early. All proceeds will directly support Cape Cod CAN, fostering inclusive arts experiences within our community.
Don't miss this opportunity to engage with a powerful narrative that challenges perceptions of normalcy and celebrates the resilience of the human spirit.
