Let's Dance: A Love Letter to the 80s
For years, I've dreamed of creating a show that celebrates the music of the 1980s.
I spent the 80’s in Los Angeles, my days immersed in classical music and my nights on the dance floors and in the clubs that helped define the decade. The songs in Let's Dance are more than just hits—they're memories, moments, and the soundtrack of an unforgettable era.
Choosing the setlist wasn't easy. With thousands of possibilities, I spent countless hours (on my bike), narrowing it down to the songs that still make me want to turn up the volume. I was especially drawn to music with great horn lines and memorable instrumental hooks, because we're fortunate to have some of the finest musicians anywhere performing as part of the Cotuit All*Star Band.
Joining us are two phenomenal vocalists, Trish LaRose and Joe Merrick, whose performances in last season's Horns Rock! made them the perfect artists to bring these songs to life.
As always, we won't be impersonating the original performers. Instead, we'll offer our own interpretations while honoring what made these songs so special in the first place.
From the sultry grooves of Sade to driving dance-floor anthems of Adam Ant, every song will make you want to move. That's why we're opening the balcony as a dance space for anyone who can't stay in their seat.
My promise is simple: you'll leave smiling, singing, and strutting back to your car.
