Outside Straight Lines II: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists

Exhibit dates: May 23rd - June 21st, 2026

Opening Reception: May 30  3-5pm

Outside Straight Lines: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists is a biennial community art exhibit held during Pride month and aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod. The exhibit, inaugurally held at The 204's Saquatucket Gallery in Harwich, arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. With such positive reception from community members, Outside Straight Lines II has relocated to Cotuit Center for the Arts in order to increase exposure for representative artists and provide more students and teachers a venue for viewing. By hosting the exhibition at Cotuit Center for the Arts, a central and welcoming community hub, the project invites audiences of all ages and backgrounds to engage with diverse perspectives. At a time of rising censorship of LGBTQ+ expression, the exhibit affirms inclusion, equity, and creative freedom. It creates a visible platform for artists while fostering dialogue, understanding, and shared pride.
