Class Description
Figurative and Functional
Make handbuilt ceramics that surprise, amuse, and still function.
What if your mug had a secret? What if your teapot looked like an elephant? What if a perfectly useful vessel also had a little mischief built in?
In this playful handbuilding class, students will create functional ceramic pieces with unexpected, humorous, and imaginative twists. Think mugs with hidden frogs, animal shaped teapots, character filled vessels, and useful objects with plenty of personality. Using slab, coil, and pinch techniques, students will learn to build work that is sturdy, expressive, and fun to make.
Open to all levels, this class invites students to bring their own ideas and curiosity to the table. Whether you are new to clay or already have handbuilding experience, you will be encouraged to develop a functional form that reflects your imagination while still being thoughtfully constructed and usable
