Class Description
Figure Fragments in Clay (2-Day Workshop)
Step into sculpture without the pressure of a full figure.
In this two-day workshop, we’ll focus on smaller, simplified forms – torsos, facial fragments, and other parts of the body – that feel expressive and sculptural while staying approachable. Working at a contained scale allows you to explore mass, gesture, and surface without getting overwhelmed by technical complexity.
Students are encouraged to bring their own inspiration – photos, magazine images, drawings, or anything that sparks curiosity. Whether you lean toward observation or imagination, this workshop makes space for both.
Neil will guide you through building strong forms, refining proportion and developing surface texture, while explaining how best to use your tools to achieve your ambitions.
Perfect for beginners ready to try sculpture, as well as returning students looking to deepen their practice.
