Class Description
Already comfortable with the basics and ready to take your clay work further? This 8-week intermediate handbuilding class is designed for students who want to develop stronger skills, gain more confidence, and create more intentional pieces.
We’ll refine core techniques—slab, coil, and pinch—while focusing on functional forms with sculptural touches. Think: mugs with personality, serving pieces, jars and lidded vessels, small vases, and centerpieces that play with texture, carving, and added elements. Along the way, we’ll cover planning and building more complex forms, strengthening joins, and finishing work so it’s both durable and expressive.
Best for: Students who have taken a beginner handbuilding class or have prior experience with basic techniques and studio practices.
